Q+A with Richard Stasie, Construction Field Representative, Ford BOSK
How do you describe your job to people outside of the industry?
When people ask me what I do, I tell them I am a Construction Representative, the liaison between the construction management team and the Ghafari engineers. I provide timely resolution and direction to issues impacting construction across a wide range of disciplines. Every day is different and challenging. That is why I enjoy it so much.
Why did you decide to become an engineer?
My father and oldest brother were mechanical engineers. I was blessed with an analytical mindset, with an innate ability for problem solving. From an early age I knew I would be an engineer. I never thought or wanted to pursue anything else.
How would you describe life at Ghafari?
Life at Ghafari is very much a team environment. Everyone is hardworking, dedicated to a quality job, and willing to aid and provide support or assistance whenever requested.
I appreciate the open communications from senior leadership regarding the company’s goals, accomplishments, and acknowledgement of what is going on in the world around us and the impact it has on both Ghafari and its employees.
What is the most exciting thing that has happened during your time here?
Watching the first piece of structural steel being set for a 4 million SF battery plant. Then six months later, seeing the top-out of the last piece of structural steel (28,852 pieces later) put into place. What an amazing example of synchronized design and construction management fortitude!
What is a key idea or lesson you have learned while working at Ghafari?
When you have quality and talented people with a clearly communicated project objective, you can accomplish anything.
How do you like to spend your free time?
I am an outdoorsman. I enjoy most all activities that allow me to experience nature, even yardwork! I have a passion for hunting and fishing. I like to get out on the golf course whenever time allows. I spend my weekends during the summer months on the lake with family and friends.
