Q+A with Wissam Alameddine, Resident Engineer (Riyadh)
How do you describe your job to people outside of the industry?
It’s not a matter of how much you love your job as much as the ambiance you are working in that makes you attached to your job. That’s why choosing a healthy environment is fundamental to continuing to develop your career with the potential to face any challenge.
While you serve as a resident engineer, your background is in architecture. Why did you decide to go into this field?
Architecture is a talent before being a career, and talent comes as a gift from God that cannot be chosen. I disagree with the funny quote saying that, “An architect's dream is an engineer's nightmare.” I say a talented architect can alleviate the nightmares of engineers.
How would you describe life at Ghafari?
Soon I will pass my 14th anniversary with Ghafari. It’s a long time, but it reflects a loyalty to the company where I developed and enriched my experience within a friendly atmosphere that built my self-esteem to face any challenge.
What is the most exciting thing that has happened during your time here?
There are always exciting things, especially when you have the full trust from your bosses to start a new project with new challenges.
What is a key idea or lesson you have learned while working at Ghafari?
Growing your knowledge that helps your career development should never stop.
How do you like to spend your free time?
It depends on the span of my free time. My free time on a daily basis goes into sport and reading articles. Vacation time usually involves traveling to new countries.
