General Motors developed a first-of-its-kind facility at the automaker’s Technical Center campus that will advance their future in electric vehicles. The Wallace Battery Cell Innovation Center expands GM’s battery cell technology operations and is accelerating the development and commercialization of longer range, more affordable EV batteries.

Ford has partnered with SK Innovation to invest in new battery plant facilities that will support their goal of becoming a leader in electric vehicle production. With an annual capacity of 86 GWh, these twin facilities will significantly bolster U.S. production of lithium-ion batteries, which will be available for use in Ford’s electric vehicles.

Ultium Cells – a joint venture of LG Energy Solution and General Motors at the forefront of a zero-emissions future with their proprietary battery technology – is building their third U.S. battery cell manufacturing plant. Located in America’s automotive heartland, this facility is integral to GM’s push to be the electric vehicle (EV) leader by mid-decade.
